My school participates in the European
Program ‘’Socrates Comenius: European Fruit Museum’’. In November 2012 we went
to the first meeting of partner schools in Turkey. To Antalya we arrived by
plane with change in Istanbul. After landing we were greeted by a delegation of
the Turkish teachers, who took us to the hotel. There was a short meeting and
next we went to our rooms. The hotel looked very nice and clean. I think that
day was really successful. I liked the flight, too.
On the first day – Tuesday, we were
preparing presentations about our school, we packed some presents for our
partners. Then we went to the city center. We exchanged money and had dinner at a local restaurant.
On Wednesday we got up early and after
breakfast we went by bus to the Turkish school -Osman Onal in Korkuteli. There
are both Primary and Secondary schools. Everybody was happy about our visit. The
students and teachers greeted us and
prepared some dance performances, which I liked very much. At first, we attended
a meeting at the teacher’s room. All partners introduced themselves through
multimedia presentations. Next, partners exchanged their souvenirs. We were often
proposed Turkish coffee or tea, which was really tasty. Later we ate lunch at
the school common room. Then we met Turkish students, who showed the school to
us. Later, we played volleyball together. Even the youngest students were able
to play perfectly, so it was very nice to play with them. Finally, we did some
shopping and had dinner at the restaurant in Korkuteli. The food was great. In
my opinion, the day was successful and students were kind and friendly.
On the next day- Thursday, we visited the
Nursery School. We went to every classroom and we gave some gifts to the
employees of the institution. In return children were singing a song for us.
Later we had lunch- a tasty ice-cream
dessert, and next we visited the District Governor. We were treated with some
Turkish cakes and tea, of course. We also exchanged gifts and discussed some
important topics. Next, we visited a Mushroom Factory. There we saw where mushroom are stored and
how they are planted. Later we visited “Beis Ancient Houses”. It was a
beautiful place, surrounded by mountains.
You can even rent the houses for holidays. When we finished the tour, we
went to meet the founder of the school building, Mr Osman Onal. Such invitation
to somebody’s house in Turkey reflects the highest level of hospitality. The
owner treated us with water from Mekka and gave us some rings. I chose four of
them. Finally, we ate dinner at the restaurant around. It consisted almost of
mushrooms. This day was really great.
On Friday, we started with a visit to a
private school. There was held a short meeting and next we watched the school.
We saw the canteen, classrooms and Informatics room, but what I liked most was
their theater hall. Later, with some Turkish students, we went to the orchard.
Fruit which were planted there tasted very well. Next, we visited the Antalya
Museum. There were many ancient sculptures and statues. Later, we had some free
time. Some people went to do shopping and others went for the boat trip. I chose the second option. On the
ship there was a very nice atmosphere.
On
Saturday, after breakfast, we went to Aspendos by bus. Together with students
from Turkey we visited the ancient theatre. It was a huge building. I’m glad
that I was able to see something that we learn about during our lessons of
History. Next, we watched Manavgat waterfall. I really liked that place, which
was great to sit and have lunch. Next, we visited a cave in Alanya. It wasn’t big,
but very beautiful. We also went to the beach for half an hour. Even in the end
of November the weather was warm and sunny.
On
Sunday we got up very early, said
goodbye to everybody and we went to the airport in Antalya. In the morning we
landed in Istanbul, and at 1:00 p.m. we were already in Warsaw. From there we
went by car to our houses.
This trip was great. We watched many
interesting places and we established new connections. I think that Turkey is a
beautiful country. Antalya and Istanbul are really interesting cities. Turkish
people are very kind and I hope that one day I’ll come back to this country.
